INDUSTRY > AUDIO

The heart of professional audio equipment, in studios, and in broadcast facilities worldwide.

In professional audio, the transformer is either invisible or it's a problem. Hum, noise, and phase distortion don't forgive poor magnetics design. For over 60 years, Pacific Transformer has built custom audio transformers for manufacturers of mixing consoles, studio outboard gear, broadcast equipment, and high-end playback systems — components engineered to stay transparent, balanced, and quiet under real working conditions.

Expert Partner

Engineered for the Signal Chain

Professional audio transformers aren't general-purpose components with audio slapped on the label. Bandwidth, phase linearity, common-mode rejection, and distortion characteristics all have to be designed intentionally — and they interact with each other in ways that require genuine audio engineering knowledge. Our team designs custom isolation transformers, line-level input and output transformers, power transformers, and balanced interface transformers to your exact impedance, frequency response, and noise floor requirements. We work in the signal chain every day. We know what it costs when the magnetics aren't right.

From OEM supply for professional audio manufacturers to custom replacements for aging studio equipment, we've built transformers that live inside consoles, outboard processors, patchbays, and power distribution systems used by working professionals. If a piece of gear has a transformer in it, we've probably built one like it.

Experience in Professional Audio

Pacific Transformer has been a supplier to professional audio manufacturers for decades, with deep experience in the specific requirements of studio, broadcast, and live sound applications. We understand balanced line interfaces, phantom power circuits, transformer-coupled DI designs, and the power supply demands of high-headroom analog gear. Our engineers don't just build to a winding spec — they understand why that spec exists and what happens to the audio when it's wrong.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Audio Engineering

Yes. We build input, output, and interstage transformers for balanced line-level applications, including custom impedance ratios, Faraday shields for noise rejection, and frequency response tuning for specific applications.
Yes. If you have the original unit or a reliable specification, we can reverse-engineer and replicate it. We've done this for studio equipment restoration and OEM replacement programs where the original manufacturer is no longer producing the part.
We work with grain-oriented silicon steel, nickel alloys, and amorphous core materials depending on the application. Core selection has a meaningful impact on low-frequency extension, distortion, and saturation behavior — we'll recommend the right material for your design goals.
Our toroidal and custom-wound designs are built to minimize stray magnetic field emission and susceptibility. For equipment intended for use in professional studio or broadcast environments, we can design and test to meet your specific noise floor requirements.
Yes. We support everything from prototype through volume production, with consistent quality across runs. We also offer JIT inventory programs for manufacturers who want to lock in pricing and availability without carrying excess stock.
We are a UL, CSA, and ETL recognized manufacturer with experience navigating CE and TUV approvals. If your product is sold internationally and requires agency certification, we can build and document to support that process.
No. We build from a single prototype to tens of thousands of units. Boutique manufacturers and large OEMs are both welcome.
